State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

State License Renewal and Continuing Education Dates:
Delaware renewal and credits are due by April 30, 2026 (even years),
Pennsylvania renewal and credits are due by May 31, 2026 (even years) - * New Mandatory classes (Fair Housing 2-hours and Agency Relationships 3-hours),
New Jersey credits are due by April 30, 2025 and renewal is due by June 30, 2025 (odd years), and
Maryland  renewal and credits are every two years from the initial date of licensing (CE credits are due at least 30 days before license expires). Note:
 -  Effective 10/1/25 there are changes to Continuing Education course requirements. Please review this guide to determine how the changes impact your requirements
 -  Effective 10/1/24 new regulations went into effect regarding Continuing Education completion and submission prior to license renewal.
    - #1 - CE courses must be completed 30 days prior to your license renewal date to avoid a reinstatement fee.
    - #2 - CE Providers have up to 14 days from the completion of a course to upload the credit hours into the MREC system.

 -  In-person classes are for those licensed prior to 10/1/23. All others follow these Continuing Education guidelines.  
  During this renewal cycle, CIRC will not be able to provide MD licensees with the following required classes:
    -  Salesperson/Associate Broker (Residential) and (Commercial Only):  Brokerage Relationships & Disclosure (BRAD) (Topic H, 3.0 cr. hrs.)
    -  Brokers, Designated Branch Office Managers or Team Leads: Brokerage Relationships & Disclosure (BRAD) (Topic H, 3.0 cr. hrs.) and Supervision (Topic I, 3.0 cr. hrs.)

DE State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

Renewal Date: April 30 every even-numbered year


Hours Required: 21 hours

  • 3 hours in Module 1 (agency and fair housing)
  • 3 hours in Module 2 (professional standards)
  • 3 hours in Module 3 (real estate documents)
  • 3 hours in Module 4 (office management)
  • 3 hours in Module 5 (legislative issues)
  • 3 hours in Module 6 (practices of real estate)
  • 3 hours in Module 7 (electives)

Note: courses approved for Modules 1 – 6 automatically qualify for credit as Module 7

PA State Requirements for Real Estate

Renewal: May 31 every even-numbered year


Hours Required: 14 hours

  • 2 hours – Fair Housing *
  • 3 hours – Agency Relationships *
  • 9 hours – elective hours


* The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission, at their July 10, 2024 board meeting, voted to approve mandatory topics for the 2024-2026 renewal cycle. Of the required 14 hours, a minimum of 2 hours in Fair Housing and 3 hours in Agency Relationships must be completed.

MD State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

Renewal Date: Two years from the date of original licensure

Hours Required: 15 hours

Effective 10/1/24: Continuing Education course requirements must be met not less than 30 days before license expires.

All first time licensees who were issued an initial real estate associate broker or salesperson license on or after 10/1/23, the subject matter of continuing education courses must include at least one 3-clock hour course for each of the following topics:

  • Contract Writing
  • The Principles of Real Estate Brokerage 
  • The Principles of Real Estate Practice
  • Property Management and Landlord and Tenant Laws

Additionally, the licensee must complete at least one 1.5 clock hour course for each of the following topics:

  • Professionalism as it relates to the Maryland Code of Ethics
  • Real Estate Financing

NAR Requirements for REALTORS®

REALTORS® are now required to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training upon becoming a member, and every 3 years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. This requirement is in addition to the Code of Ethics training. Qualified training must be of not less than 2 hours of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®. This requirement will begin January 1, 2025 with a deadline of December 31, 2027.
