Delaware's Economic Crossroads:

Where We've Been, Where We're Headed

Keynote Speaker:

Charles L. "Charlie" Copeland
Director of the Center for Economic & Fiscal Policy
Caesar Rodney Institute

We look forward to seeing you at our May 13 membership luncheon and Annual Meeting and Board Elections. As we look forward to our June 22 Annual Golf Outing, we will jump to a summer menu and enjoy a Barbecue lunch this month. Plan to arrive early and get the most out of a robust networking period. We will have a few tables set up at the back of the ballroom for members who have handouts or materials to share.

We will hear from Charlie Copeland after lunch. Charlie will take an honest look at the forces that have reshaped Delaware's economy — from the loss of legacy employers and corporate restructuring to post-COVID adaptation and emerging risks like Senate Bill 21 — and where the real opportunities lie. It's an upbeat but candid assessment of what's working, what isn't, and what it all means for anyone doing business in the state.

Meet Our Speaker: Charlie Copeland is the Director of the Center for Economic & Fiscal Policy at the Caesar Rodney Institute, where he writes on state economic policy, taxation, and fiscal accountability. He is also a Vistage Chair, coaching peer advisory groups of CEOs and senior executives.

Charlie spent 25 years as President of a multi-generational family business and led the Intercollegiate Studies Institute for five years as President and CEO. He holds a BS in Physics and Computer Science and an MBA from Duke University. From 2002 through 2008, he served as a Delaware State Senator, rising to Senate Minority Leader, where he was a leading voice for government accountability, education reform, and criminal justice reform.

Charlie serves as Board Chair of the Longwood Foundation and Board Chair of the Mt. Cuba Center. He co-founded the Challenge Program, a nonprofit that trains at-risk youth in construction skills.
